Who is 'Ronnie Boy Kids'
Filipino-American artist Ron Nery Jr. aka ‘Ronnie Boy Kids’, released his sophomore children’s album “BIG Kid Now” on September 8.
Following the success of his debut album It's Me, Ronnie Boy! in 2022, BIG Kid Now, produced by Marc Lawrence, Nate Evans, and Jujuan Gailey, known for their contributions to 'Baywatch' and Disney's Noelle, offers a mix of playful tracks like Burger and Ishkabibble alongside a more mature sound. It dives into important themes such as bullying, shyness, and special education (IEP’s), demonstrating Ronnie Boy's musical growth.
As a unique Asian-American figure in children's music, Ronnie Boy strives to inspire and positively impact people of color in his community. He actively volunteers at the local library, reading to children, and participates in the city's Adaptive Program, offering recreational activities for teens and adults with developmental disabilities.
The Album
About
"BIG Kid Now" was a collaborative effort with my diverse group of fellow musicians, all sharing a common vision. Our goal was to craft songs that are not only easy to listen to, straightforward, and catchy but also convey meaningful messages through storytelling.
â
Our songs touch on themes like confessing to mistakes, conquering shyness, and destigmatizing IEP's (Individualized Education Program). To bring these messages to life, we've infused them with a blend of music genres that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.
â
Our hope is that our music goes beyond being catchy and visually appealing, that it truly serves as an inspiration and confidence booster for our young listeners, who represent our future.
